SMRU TB Clinic - A Mother's Story

mothers-story.png
She just arrived a few days ago in SMRU TB clinic. She arrived by herself with two children 8 and 11 years old, direct from Yangon. She decided to hire a car, and go to SMRU TB clinic to receive care for her and her children. She has been sick, coughing, has lost weight and has been very tired for many months. Now her young daughter also coughs, has fever and is losing weight.

Mother was diagnosed with HIV in 2015 after her first TB episode. She started ART since then from Yangon hospital with good compliance, but neither her children nor husband have been tested. She could not take the children with her to be tested in Yangon. Her husband works in Yangon as a driver and she lived by herself in a small village in Irrawaddy division. She could not live by herself anymore and the husband cannot take care of them also in Yangon.

At SMTU TB clinic, the three of them have been diagnosed with TB and the two children tested also positive for HIV.

SMRU TB clinic is the last hope for her to stop worrying and take a rest to care for herself and her children.
